《精神不死：马来西亚华文话剧口述历史（第一辑）》书本简介：

本书以访谈录的形式，记录了十位戏剧界前辈和社会活动人士的口述历史。他们的出生年份从上世纪二十年代横跨至四、五十年代，是一个风云动荡的时代氛围，而他们成长的岁月，也是二战前后到紧急状态、马来亚脱离英殖民独立、冷战时期的资本主义和共产主义对抗、马来西亚建国和马共的威胁，这一系列的时局变化，在在影响了他们的人生和思想，以致累积了丰富的经验和做出不同的选择。无论是通过戏剧，或者其他的艺术和职业身份切入社会，他们的见证反映了一个时代的多元声音。
本书乃是“抢救百年马华话剧史料运动”进行的田野调查和民间采访所获得的成就之一，有关马华话剧的口述历史写作计划，以此书为始，将会持续进行下去，也是完成马来西亚华文话剧史著述的部分努力。

New book “Everlasting Spirits: An Interviewing Record on Malaysian Drama (part I) ” brief introduction:

This book, in the form of interview transcripts, presents the oral history of ten veterans of the drama industry and social activists. They were born between the 1920s and the 1950s, a period marked by significant historical events. Their growing ages spanned times of great turbulence, encompassing the aftermath of World War II, the declaration of State of Emergency, independence of Malaya Federation from British colonialization, the Cold War era with confrontations between Communism and Capitalism, the founding of Malaysia nation, and the military threats posed by the Malaya Communist Party. These changing socio-political landscapes profoundly influenced their lives and thoughts, resulting in a wealth of experiences and diverse life choices. Whether through drama or other artistic and professional roles in society, their testimonies will surely reflect the multiple voices of an era.
This book is one of the achievements of the “Rescuing a Century of Malaysian Chinese Drama History” field study and grassroots interviews. The oral history writing project concerning Malaysian Chinese drama, starting with this book, which will continue and persist, representing a part of the efforts to complete the narratives of the history of Chinese drama in Malaysia.
